Hartford is the capital of the state. Mark Twain, where he built a house for his family in 1873. At that time Hartford house was very rich and has been many authors, political commentators, etc. His time in Hartford has some of his happiest increase their family, wrote his best novels, working on his inventions. The house reflects his personality and his wife, I was completely opposed. In other words, home is very eclectic.
Your next door neighbor was Harriet Beecher Stowe, author of The Case of Uncle Tom. The home is easier than Twain but it shows his personality has many talents, including painting.
Government House was completed in 1878, rising on a hill in Bushnell Park (the name of the inventor of the submarine). Guided tours and audio tours are available from the building, which has been restored fifteen years ago. The rotunda is particularly impressive with its marble columns and a starry dome. Throughout the city are all reminders of the history State. In the basement, hidden from general view, windows are objects, such as collecting the spoon, covered China, medals, and accessories for the campaign, etc.
The State which is a walk in the old downtown on Main Street. Built in 1796, based in the city of Liverpool, England. The center, now closed, was open to the elements, which gives a sense of access to legislative process and judicial. This has worked well for half of the year when the weather was beautiful. During harsh winters, the capital was transferred to New Haven. In September 1839, the first Amistad trial was held here. Roger Sherman Baldwin stated his case and who were acquitted of mutiny and murder. The federal government intervened in the direction of Martin Van Buren. To appease the Democrats in the South have been acquitted of the mutineers to be accused of slaves escape. The trial was moved to New Haven, Conn., in February 1840 (the winter capital). Again, it was found that free men, not slaves. Error still a pound of flesh, the executive brought the case before the Supreme Court. Although Africans believed "the right to be free. Finally found her way home on board any Caballero. Things have not changed much, only names.
Also in the former palace of the state is the Joseph Steward collection of curiosities. These date from the 18th century, when people pay a fee to see this picture of unusual animals. We include two calves head of a farm in Wisconsin, oversized insects and mammals mounted and fish and reptiles from around the world. Fish and turtles are hanging from the ceiling. Every inch of wall space is covered.
Hartford is known as the cradle of many insurers, including Hartford, Travelers, etc.
Hartford is also the Colt Armory, which is under reconstruction. Just for see the dome atop the building has been restored, the rest of the building should be very impressive.
