The hike in the Smokies?
My brother and I think walking on the path ahead Appalachain Smokies in the near future. We would like begin now to the east (near Big Creak) and ends at the west end (near Fontana Dam) We would lower the car from the beginning and take a bus to the car. Is this possible? Has anyone advice on hiking in the Smokies?
I made a part of its planned increase and recommend starting close to the NC28. Somewhere between Stecoah & Lauada (US19/74) there is a rafting operator, its parking area is 100 feet + / - in AT.From No You can hike to Fontanna Dam and one of the best shelters Trail .. There are hot showers to the barrier. Continue north to Shuckstack (steep climb) and then turn to the Clingman's Dome Lookout on the road a short distance is a nice refuge in a pine forest. Half (?) Increased days to arrive in toto US441 and fourth bathing a "real". At this point you can go north drive to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and south of Waynesville, NCIf stopped clear we have a good chance to make a trip to Gatlinburg. Not many cars south to avoid Waynesville, but in the way of Cherokee and tourists are leading this way. I do not think you should plan on any service.This bus works well if you have 2 vehicles and set off ferry. If you finish in Fontana, you can leave your car there too. However, the view from the top Shuckstack worth the climb. BTW ... Leg fit!
